Kalabati Rajkanya is one of the longer tales in the Thakumar Jhuli collection, about two princes, Budhhu and Bhutum, who sail on the high seas and have many adventures.
Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumdar collected folktales from the villages of Bengal at a time when they were in dire need of revival. He recorded stories recounted by village elders with a phonograph and published several collections over his lifetime.
